The Vintner’s Golf Club at the Veteran’s Home Golf Course is a no-frills operation loaded with characters congregating in their open-to-the public clubhouse. They also serve fantastic breakfast and knock themselves out when they see small children in tow… all of this is a winning combination in my book.
Golfers are a persnickety bunch and tend to insist on GOOD food… these guys hired themselves the ex- sous chef of the Auberge to work their kitchen serving dollar pancakes with crispy bacon, or fried eggs with English muffins in the mornings.
This is not the breakfast spot to IMPRESS suitors/ lady friends with romantical aspirations. However, it IS brilliant for those traveling/ visiting/ dining with children, looking to escape the grandparents/ hosts/ hotel room early! It is right in Yountville, close to the good coffee shops, the longhorn cows patrolling the hills and all the hot air balloons floating above.
PS– I am told they serve a hell of a good Bloody Mary first thing in the morning.
