Last year the Yountville gas station shut down overnight. No word. No gas. Locked doors. This was bad news for someone who pushes the edge of an empty tank on a daily basis. In the ensuing months I would drive by the station all the time, longing for the days of over-priced gas and small conveniences — vowing to doubly/ triply support if the station ever re-opened.

And then one day I saw some activity in the driveway…then the next time the gas pumps were back in business and there was a full-out concession loaded with candy, cookies, chips, and really good wine + beer. Everything about this operation was inspired with retro flair, from the 1950s Kelvinator housing ice cream to the art installations on the wall. A gas station one might only stumble upon in Napa Valley. Brilliance on a corner. And a super generous contribution to the town of Yountville.
PS: There is talk of adding good coffee very soooon; along with amazing souvenir t-shirts.
